Main Review

Selphy Printer Family

Canon’s range of CP Selphy printers boasts technology and features seen in its compact and DSLR lines, with the CP750 replacing the CP730 launched in 2006. Much of the core technology remains, such as the 300x300dpi dye-sub technology, 24bit colour depth and claims of 100-year print longevity. Quoted print times for a postcard-sized print stay at an impressive 58 seconds while the MyColours feature now boasts a ‘Positive Film’ mode, sitting alongside the black & White, sepia and vivid modes among others.

Connectivity

You won’t need a computer as there’s a host of connectivity and wireless printing options – from card slots and Pictbridge to Infrared and Bluetooth, while Canon users can print via their cameras’ DPOF print buttons.

Performance and Print Quality

From pressing the print button, print times average around 70 seconds. After each coloured layer has been applied, an instant-dry coating protects the print from smudges and fingerprints; the coating proves itself effective, with only the darker areas of the image in bright light showing any signs of marks.

Colours are nicely saturated with a little more depth than expected, though shadow detail isn’t lost because of this. Highlights are generally kept detailed, with images also displaying very good sharpness. It’s not the cheapest compact printer on the market, but it certainly gives the others a good run for their money.

Verdict

Good print quality and nice saturated colours
